Travel Abroad With ILP

Are you looking for the chance to work and travel abroad? Come travel with ILP! Out of all the college trips I took while studying, I am so glad I taught English abroad with International Language Programs. I loved my time abroad with this program so much, I went more than once while I was in school — even as a student, travel was something I knew I wanted to prioritize. ILP let me do that with my limited budget.

There are a lot of travel programs out there, but a few things made the difference between me choosing a semester with ILP and traveling the world with someone else:

  • No experience or degree needed
  • 3-4 month semesters  — Long enough for you to really feel like a local and make a difference
  • Affordable — ILP keeps your costs low, with fundraising and payment plan options to help even more
  • You're never alone  — You're set up with a group of volunteers your age (bring a friend with you for a discount!)
  • Volunteer with kids — Spend your service trip helping children learn English or serve in an orphanage

Travel Around The World With Us

Making a difference by volunteering with children

Spend time helping children learn English, which opens doors for their future. Our teaching method is fun and easy (it's more like playing in small groups!) and you do not need any prior experience — we train you on our method.

Or, volunteer in an orphanage, giving young children your 1-on-1 attention and love to help them develop and grow.

Exploring and traveling abroad

You're volunteering to make a difference, with time to see the world. Teach or help in an orphanage 20 hours per week, with every weekend off, too. You also get extra vacation time to travel around. In a nutshell, there's plenty of free time to discover other humanitarian projects and still have time to do some traveling.

Helping other countries while helping yourself

Without being too cliche, this opportunity is absolutely life-changing. A semester abroad is different for everyone, but you may be surprised how much you actually gain while you're giving back. New friends, confidence and purpose, experience for your resume, unforgettable memories, greater gratitude for what you have + just an overall sense of happiness are just some of the opportunities waiting for you.

Exchange & Humanitarian Travel

ILP currently has two volunteer programs, Humanitarian and  Exchange — both focus on helping others in need, in different ways. Find most of our humanitarian trips in warm and tropical locations like Central America, the Caribbean, Africa, and more, or head to places like Europe or Asia for our Exchange programs.

Between these options, we have countries all over the world.

If you're looking for the chance to earn a salary while you are traveling abroad, ILP has a few professional travel programs, where you are paid instead of volunteering. The qualifications are a bit stricter and you're abroad for a bit longer — check out the chance to work and travel abroad with ILP here.

Is this the right program for you?

International Language Programs has safely sent nearly 10,000 volunteers to live abroad for more than 25 years, providing something that goes beyond school and student travel programs — letting you become immersed in the country and culture you're living in.

Most of our volunteers are college-aged, and are looking for the chance to make a difference while traveling abroad. Similar to some college travel abroad programs, volunteers are asked to follow a code of conduct and are set up with a group of fellow volunteers to teach, travel, and live with.
