Why Travel With ILP?
Our travel programs are in countries all over the world, so you can spend time teaching English in the classroom (or helping in an orphanage) while adventuring in a foreign country. You're set up with a group of fellow volunteers to travel with, with weekends off and vacation days to do a lot of traveling. You'll get all of this and more with an ILP semester:
- Go abroad on your college budget
We know you're a student, so the program fees cover your airfare, housing, food, language & culture classes, training, and visa for the entire semester (around 4 months). The entire program fee for a whole semester with ILP is often considerably less than the Mesa Community College Study Abroad programs!
- Do a lot of traveling
We wouldn't send you all the way to another country and not give you time to see it! Volunteer up to 20 hours per week with Saturday and Sunday off, which means you have tons of time to explore with your group. You'll also have scheduled vacation time throughout the semester so you can travel around and see even more.
- No previous skills required!
You don't need to speak another language, have traveled anywhere, or have any teaching experience to be an ILP volunteer.
-
- Make a difference in the lives of children
You have the ability to change a child's life just by sharing your natural gift of speaking English and showing them you care. Bridge cultural gaps, make lasting friendships with your group of peer volunteers, have incredible experiences that will affect your own life for the better in countless ways ... and, boost your college resume at the same time.
-
- Volunteer with other YSAs
International Language Programs (ILP) isn’t affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, but a lot of our volunteers are. Even though it's not a requirement to be religious to volunteer with our program, every volunteer agrees to a code of conduct so you’ll be living and volunteering with people who share your same standards.
- Get support with group travel
Our volunteers are set up with an ILP group of college-aged peers (ages 18 - 25) that they live with, volunteer with, and travel with, so you're not alone ... You might even meet your new roommates for your next semester.
ILP volunteers also have a Local Coordinator who lives in that country, plus the support of our Orem, UT staff.
Save Even More Money
We know travel is even better at cheaper prices, which is why we want to help out our college students. Tell your friends about ILP and you can both receive a discount of $300 when you volunteer in the same Spring or Fall semester for qualifying countries.

- *To qualify, your friend must list your name as the person that referred them on their application. Contact the ILP office for the current list of qualifying countries.
ILP also offers other discounts, tips to help you raise money to pay for your program fee and payment plans to make this work for you. When you apply, you'll be put in contact with your very own ILP representative who can tell you more about our discounts and work out a payment option that work best for your situation.

Fit Travel With Your School Plans
Being a student doesn't mean you have to wait to travel. We have volunteer opportunities for 3-4 months that leave in fall, winter and spring so you can fit a semester abroad in your academic plans. Or you can explore options to get credit while you travel.
- Get internship credit
Depending on certain Mesa Community College Programs, you might be able to get school credit for your volunteer service. Schedule a time to talk to your academic advisor, explain what you're planning to do during your semester abroad, and see if it can complete any requirements for your major. They might be able to work out a custom plan for you.
- Take online classes
Volunteers with ILP are only teaching or helping out 20 hours a week, which means you'll have time to adventure, and fit in a class or two. Talk to your academic advisor and see if you do a semester of "Mesa Community College Abroad" by taking classes in Thailand, Ukraine, Russia ... or any other ILP country!
- Go in the summer
One easy way to not interrupt your school schedule is to go abroad while you're not in school, right? Most of our summer semesters fit right when the Mesa Community College summer terms would be starting and ending — so you can easily spend your summer semester traveling and volunteering with ILP, then come back in time to start your fall semester.
