Why Travel With ILP?

Our travel programs are in countries all over the world, so you can spend time teaching English in the classroom (or helping in an orphanage) while adventuring in a foreign country.  You're set up with a group of fellow volunteers to travel with, with weekends off and vacation days to do a lot of traveling. You'll get all of this and more with an ILP semester:

No previous skills required!
You don't need to speak another language, have traveled anywhere, or have any teaching experience to be an ILP volunteer.

Go abroad on your college budget
We know you're applying to be an ASU student, so the program fees cover your airfare, housing, food, language & culture experiences, training, and visa for the entire semester (around 4 months). It's typically less expensive than an Arizona State University study abroad.

World travel opportunities
We
wouldn't send you all the way to another country and not give you time to see it. Volunteer up to 20 hours per week with Saturday and Sunday off, which means you have tons of time to explore with your group. You'll also have scheduled vacation time throughout the semester so that you can travel and see even more.

Make a difference in the lives of children
You have the ability to change a child's life just by sharing your natural gift of speaking English and showing them you care. Bridge cultural gaps, make lasting friendships with your group of peer volunteers, have incredible experiences that will affect your own life (and boost your college resume at the same time).

Get support
Our volunteers are set up with an ILP group of college-aged peers (ages 18 - 25) that they live with, volunteer with, and travel with, so you're not alone ... You might even meet your new roommates for your next semester at Arizona State!

ILP volunteers also have a Local Coordinator who lives in that country, plus the support of our Orem, UT staff.

Save Even More Money

We know travel is even better at cheaper prices, which is why we want to help out our Arizona State University students. We've included your flight, visa, housing, meals, and more in your program fee but you can save even more if you let your friends know about ILP. Tell your friends about ILP and you can both receive a discount of $300 when you both volunteer in qualifying countries during the same Spring or Fall semester!

Make This Work For Your ASU Major

Whether you are studying Cultural Studies or Teaching, you'll find something to gain by spending a semester abroad with us — We've had participants volunteers with ILP who have been studying Education, Humanities, Elementary Education, Global Studies, Public Health, and many more ASU degree programs. We also have a team of representatives who are here to answer your questions like how to fit this program in with your school plan, getting help with taking online classes, and more. We're here to help you fit travel into your school plans, no matter your Arizona State University major.

Fit Travel With Your Arizona State University Schedule

Being a student doesn't mean you have to wait to travel. We have semester teaching opportunities for 3-4 months that leave in fall, winter and spring so you can fit a semester teaching abroad within the Arizona State University enrollment schedule. Or you can explore options to get Arizona State University credit while you travel:

  • Take online classes.
Did you know you can knock off some of your Arizona State University online classes while living abroad? ILP volunteers serve part time hours (up to 20 per week), so there is plenty of free time to balance exploring the country you're living in and taking a class or two.

  • Go in the summer.
One easy way to not interrupt your Arizona State University schedule is to go abroad while you're not in school, right? You can either volunteer with when you're not taking classes or choose to defer a semester to volunteer, then come back to finish up your ASU English degree. Or, while you're still an ASU applicant working with the Arizona State University admissions department, come volunteer for a semester before starting your degree. Come hang out in Africa, Asia, Europe, the South Pacific or the Caribbean instead!
  • Get internship credit + fit this into your Arizona State University courses
Have an "ASU International" experience and get school credit for volunteering abroad.
Depending on your Arizona State University major and other Arizona State University courses,  you might be able to get school credit for your volunteer service. This could work for so many majors: Anthropology, Asian studies, History, Art Education, Exploratory Humanities, and tons more.

Schedule a time to the Arizona State University enrollment center or academic advisor, explain what you're planning to do during your semester abroad, and see if it can complete any requirements for your major. They might be able to work out a custom plan for you or see which Arizona State University courses work with traveling and volunteer work. They can also help see if you can you put your Arizona State University on hold.

Who Is ILP?

International Language Programs is an affordable volunteer program where you can make a difference with children in both the classroom and in an orphanage — maybe you've seen our fliers around Arizona State University campus?  We have a Code of Conduct that all volunteers agreed to follow, so if you're looking for opportunities to have a meaningful experience living abroad with others who have a similar standard to yours, this is right up your alley. Take advantage of all of the opportunities to travel abroad with other college-aged volunteers!

Learn more about our program online, or click above to schedule a call to talk to someone who has already volunteered and get your questions answered.
